How the converter works
- The PDF is read in your browser with the same text layer your PDF viewer uses — no upload, no server.
- Transactions are rebuilt row by row, including descriptions that wrap onto a second line.
- The result is reconciled: opening balance plus transactions must equal the closing balance printed on the statement.
- Any row that doesn't fit cleanly is flagged in the preview, never silently dropped.
- You download the file in the format you picked.

What converts well (and what doesn't yet)
Digital PDF statements downloaded from your bank's website convert best, because they contain real text. Scanned or photographed statements are images, so they need OCR, which the converter doesn't do yet. The quick test: if you can highlight a line of text in the PDF, it will convert. The converter currently handles one statement at a time.
Why it runs in your browser
A bank statement holds account numbers, balances, and every payment you made. Most converters — and AI chatbots — need you to upload it to their servers. StatementTidy does the whole conversion on your device, so there is nothing to upload, store, or leak. You can confirm it by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads: the converter keeps working.

Is this bank statement converter free?
Yes. Converting a statement and downloading CSV, Excel, QBO, or QIF is free, with no signup.
Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is parsed in your browser and never sent to a server. Once the page has loaded, the converter works even with your internet connection turned off.
Which banks does it support?
It is not tied to a list of banks. It reads the table of transactions in any digital (text-based) PDF statement, then checks the result against the statement's opening and closing balances. Unusual layouts can produce flagged rows, which you can review before downloading.
Can it convert a scanned bank statement?
Not yet. Scanned or photographed statements are images and need OCR. Download the digital PDF from your bank's website instead — it converts in seconds.
How do I know the conversion is accurate?
Every conversion is reconciled: opening balance plus all transactions must equal the closing balance on the statement. If it doesn't add up, the rows involved are flagged instead of hidden.
