How to convert a bank statement to QIF
- Drag your digital PDF statement onto the converter above (or click to choose it).
- StatementTidy reads the transactions in your browser and reconciles them against the opening and closing balance.
- Review the preview — flagged rows stay visible and are never dropped.
- Click “Download QIF” to save a file you can import into Quicken.
What a QIF file is
QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) is a plain-text format that personal finance software uses to import transactions. Each transaction carries a date, a signed amount (money in is positive, money out is negative), and a description, so your tool can record it without manual entry.
How to import a QIF file into Quicken
- Open Quicken and select File → File Import → QIF File.
- Choose the .qif file you downloaded from StatementTidy.
- Select the account that should receive the transactions.
- Confirm the date range and import, then review the new transactions in the register.
Using QuickBooks instead?
QuickBooks imports QBO and CSV rather than QIF. If your destination is QuickBooks Online or Desktop, use the QBO export instead — it is built for a clean QuickBooks import.
